Dance Styles

Dance Styles Taught Include

  • Ballet - This is a classical and traditional style of dance where you will learn the specific movements and techniques. When you have gained enough experience and are above the age of twelve you may be able to progress onto dancing on pointe shoes.
  • Tap - Tap dancing allows you to make rhythms with your tap shoes and perform them in time with music. You will be taught the correct techniques required in order to achieve the correct movements with you feet and body.
  • Modern - This style of dance is very versitile and can incorporate jazz, modern and street influenced movements. Modern dance is based on good technique and is more controlled than hip hop/ street dance.  
  • Jazz - This is a faster style of dance than modern. More elevation and isolations are included and faster music is generally used.
  • Contemporary - This style of dance has derived from other dance forms practised in the 20/21st centry and is constantly evolving over time. Using movements and your body to move through space and time using a range of free flowing and controlled movements in these dance routines.
  • Street Dance/Hip hop - This style of dance allows you to learn the latest moves and perform lots of fast isolated movements with the body. Some basic tricks and freezes are learn't and dances are performed to newly released songs.
  • Freestyle - This style of dance involes runs, spins, kicks and leaps aswell as many other steps and movements. Lots of different head and arm actions are used. Dances are performed a solo, duo, trio or groups.
  • Aerodance - This is a class based on working your cardiovascular system as well as learning dance moves. Hip hop, street dance and salsa moves are incorporated to provide the perfect fun workout.
  • Musical Theatre - You learn to sing and dance at the same time. Performing to well known songs from shows, films and musicals.
