About the academy
Malvern’s dance family since 2008
Founded in 2008 by Principal Miss Gemma, with the centre opening in 2010, Dance in Motion Academy is home to 450+ students who train, perform and grow together in Malvern, Worcestershire.
Every student is a star
Huge variety of dance styles, one big dance family and endless opportunities, where every student matters and shines like a star.
Students perform in bi-annual school shows, Sparkle Theatre Company musicals and many prestigious productions. Opportunities are available to compete across the UK, Europe and the USA. Closer to home, students perform, fundraise and shine for local events and charities across Worcestershire.

Competition teams
Compete across the UK, Europe and the USA
We have 16 competitive teams across a range of dance styles, alongside solo, duo and trio opportunities. Students are invited to join and compete throughout the UK, with qualification routes to international stages.
Our dancers compete nationally at regional and national championships, as well as internationally at the International Festival of Performing Arts in Paris and the World Championships in Orlando. Students have also gained places with Team England Jazz and Team England Pom, and represented Team England at the ECU in Vienna.

Musical theatre company
Sparkle Theatre Company
Our Musical Theatre Company runs on Friday evenings and produces a fantastic musical each year.
Sparkle Theatre Company is the academy's dedicated musical theatre company. Juniors rehearse for 1.5 hours on Friday evenings, with Inters and Seniors following in a second company slot.
Each year the company stages a full musical, giving students real show experience in singing, dancing and acting together.
Fridays: Juniors 5.30–7.00pm · Inters/Seniors 6.00–7.30pm

Teacher training
Motion Leaders
Recognised teaching assistant qualifications for students aged 13yrs+, with Bronze, Silver and Gold leadership levels.
Motion Pro
Professional Level 3 and 4 teaching qualifications with IDTA and NATD, open to all, with private tuition arranged around your timetable.
