Miss Carly – Dance Teacher

Miss Carly (real name: Clare) trained at Laine Theatre Arts, Surrey, studying to advanced level in Ballet, Modern, Tap and National Dance; and training in professional performance, teaching, musical theatre and singing.

Carly began her professional career dancing with Dougie Squire’s Second Generation and then performed in shows with Sir Ken Dodd OBE for three years. She danced and sang professionally for a further ten years appearing in many UK tours, seasons and pantomimes and in international cabaret and TV. 

After retiring from professional performing, Carly began teaching tap, ballet, modern and musical theatre, coaching pupils towards shows, competitions and exams. She discovered she loved to teach and has a range of teaching experience that also includes dance projects for primary schools, A level Dance, adult classes, summer schools, musical theatre Enrichment programmes in sixth form, and many community projects and shows. Several previous students Carly has had the pleasure of teaching have gone onto train at professional dance colleges including: Laine Theatre Arts, Bird College, Italia Conti, SLP and are currently working in the industry. 

Carly has been passionate about dancing all her life and her teaching aim is to help those who also love to dance to achieve their dance aspirations, whether it is to progress to a career in performing, achieve dance exams, have fun appearing in shows, create choreography, or to simply enjoy dancing in the moment.
