Contemporary dance stresses versatility and improvisation, in contrast to the strict, structured nature of ballet. Dancers focus on floor work, using gravity and release to ground their movement, and the genre is often danced in bare feet to a wide range of music.
At the academy, contemporary classes help dancers find their own voice while staying connected to strong technique, a combination that serves students brilliantly in vocational auditions and modern choreography alike.
